Contemporary artist Pascal Bernier was born in 1960 in Brussels. His work is both still life and vanity, taxidermy and mortuary art.
Dressed, bandaged, stuffed or skinned, the artist puts animals in a situation through photography, installations, sculpture and video. Art and death are intimately linked in the artist's approach. Both disturbing and playful, Bernier's work offers a questioning of human nature. He invites us to discover a universe where nature is revisited by man and his world.
The artist shows us the industrialized society occupied in absorbing nature in order to make it its own, so that it meets the needs of production and profitability, at the risk of abusing it.
L'artiste contemporain Pascal Bernier naît en 1960 à Bruxelles. Son oeuvre tient à la fois de la nature morte et de la vanité, de la taxidermie et de l'art mortuaire.
Pansés, bandés, empaillés ou écorchés, l'artiste met en situation des animaux via la photographie, les installations, la sculpture et la vidéo. L’art et la mort sont intimement liés dans la démarche de l’artiste. À la fois inquiétant et ludique, le travail de Bernier propose un questionnement autour de la nature humaine. Il nous invite à découvrir un univers où la nature est revisitée par l’homme et son monde.
